AVAILABLE IN 750ML BOTTLES
The first vintage of this wine was only produced in 2003 and was named Inversus in tribute to Giovanni and Emilia’s young son born with a very rare disorder in which all of his major internal organs were born reversed. Now a perfectly healthy boy, his namesake wine has quickly been hailed as one of the winery’s greatest successes. 80% Merlot and 20% Sangiovese, essentially a reverse of the usual Sangiovese Merlot Chianti Classico blend.

>> "Some of my favorites from 2009 include: Sassicaia (98 points), Guado al Tasso (97), Messorio (97), and Solaia (97). Some of the high-scoring wines that may be less known to you include: Chianti Classico’s Casaloste Inversus, Riparbella’s Castiglion del Bosco Prima Pietra, and Valdarno’s Caberlot. I scored all three of these 96 points....It’s amazing how many excellent to fabulous vintages Tuscany has experienced recently: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. I honestly didn’t expect to find so many superb wines from the 2009 vintage after so many marvelous wines from earlier years."

>> "The Casaloste Toscana Inversus 2009 at No. 7 shows how Tuscany’s Chianti Classico region makes superlative reds. This is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese from organically grown grapes. The winery is near the town of Panzano – arguably Tuscany’s answer to the great Burgundy village of Vosne-Romanee."
