The Tenimenti Angelini is a family owned group of three prominent estates in the major Tuscan zones of Chianti (San Leonino), Montalcino (Val di Suga) and Montapulciano (Tre Rose). The Angelini family have spared no expense in producing the finest Sangiovese wines possible from these famous vineyards. We have chosen the San Leonino Chianti Classico from the superb 2006 vintage. From Montalcino, we bring in the seductive Rosso, the awesome Brunello and the monumental single vineyard Brunello, Spuntali. Finally, from Montepulciano, the Tre Rose and the single vineyard ‘La Villa’. The latter two offer the most stunning value as even in Italy people confuse the Montepulciano grape with this Tuscan village of the same name. A lower market price results for these Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese clone) wines. Sangiovese lovers ‘in the know’ world-wide exploit this bargain phenomenon.
Left: Great Brunello serenely aging in the Val di Suga cellars.
San Leonino is well recognised as one of the top Chianti vineyards. Facing south, south-east in the extreme south of the Chianti Classico zone, sangiovese ripens to perfection. From a superb year, a very complex nose with a variety of fruit and mineral notes. Full bodied, zippy taninnins with a long typically Chianti savoury finish.
Tenimenti Angelini Tre Rose Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2005 - Tuscany, Italy
Made from a very special Sangiovese clone - Prugnolo Gentile. Showing lovely dark fruits, berries, with elements of spice and cigar box. A fine structure with smooth texture finish a wine that is very elegant and perfectly balanced. Not to be confused with Montepulciano the grape! This is the noble wine of Montepulciano the medieval hilltop village in Tuscany.
Tenimenti Angelini La Villa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2004 - Tuscany, Italy
This is a very special single vineyard Nobile di Montepulciano produced only in the best years. It is quite simply stunning value, thanks to market confusion with Montepulciano the grape. The nose will impress you with its vast array of integrated aromas - red fruits, spices, some chocolate and tobacco to name a few. The palate is full bodied with power, yet soft carresing tannins. Very long finish, very refined, very rare.
Tenimenti Angelini Rosso di Montalcino Val di Suga 2006 - Tuscany, Italy
100% Sangiovese Grosso from the vineyards around the Val di Suga cellars. This wine is all about superb fruit, although 15 mths aging in part Slavonian and part 2-3 year old French barrels has added structure and further complexity. Red fruits and spice, soft tannins with a remarkably long finish.
Tenimenti Angelini Brunello di Montalcino Val di Suga 2003 - Tuscany, Italy
Surely this is one of the best Val di Suga Brunello for years. Grapes were picked with perfect ripeness. Rich and complex aromas of wild berries, balsamic hints, and spice notes. Powerful and yet at the same time elegant palate. Perfect balance, seductive texture and very long fresh berry and spice aftertaste. 91 points Wine Spectator.
Tenimenti Angelini Brunello di Montalcino Spuntali 2001 - Tuscany, Italy
This is one of the great "crus" single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino. This vineyard is located on the southern side of Montalcino hill, 300m above sea level. After decanting for a period, you will discover an extremely seductive nose. So complex ... rich fruit, full, spices, chocolate, cigar box, minerals and much more. The palate is indeed a very powerful expression of Sangiovese Grosso. Perfectly balanced of course, and with a very long finish to savour for minutes.
