pelis-sero “Pelissero goes from strength to strength ...”
Mid-2008 when visiting our suppliers in Italy, we were told “you have to visit Pelissero in Barbaresco”. We are glad we did. These vineyards near Treiso, overlook Angelo Gaja’s and so perhaps not surprisingly producing complex and deeply satisfying red wines. Winemaker, Georgio Pelissero is the new star from the region and is now well advanced in winning over hearts and minds of critics and sommeliers alike.
Antonio Galloni (eRobertParker): "Pelissero goes from strength to strength with his 2006 Barbera d’Alba Piani. The wine possesses notable concentration in its dark jammy fruit and sweet toasted oak. Made in a full-bodied, super-ripe style, it reveals silky-textured tannins and awesome harmony. The oak remains present, but well-balanced. "
Made in the traditional style, that is, aged in large Slovenian oak. The nose is fruit driven with plum, blackberry aromas with floral and herb notes. The palate is soft, savoury and velvety showing a perfect balance between fruit flavours and the addictive nebbiolo bite.

2004 is a great Barbaresco year. 'Nubiola' is the ancient local word for 'Nebiolo' the grape.
The very best vineyard Pelissero own spawns this superb Barbareso. The south facing vineyards produce nebiolo of such flavour that they are balanced by aging in 80% new french barriques. Raspberries and cherries harmoniously combine with the oak to create great complexity and a wine that will age a long time. The wine continues to grow in the glass, gradually revealing its superb pedigree.
