Wine Selection:

Camigliano - Montalcino, Tuscany

The Ghezzi family acquired the Camigliano business in 1957. Since then Gualtiero Ghezzi has put a great deal of energy into modernizing the company and expanding the vineyards to 90 hectares. He has built a new wine cellar, completely underground. His wines which include Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and IGT Toscana “Poderuccio,” are made using careful selection of grapes and limiting yield per hectare to increase concentration of flavours. There is quality and excitement in every drop. We are so pleased to have discovered these wines for import into Australia.

Camigliano Poderuccio 2006 - Tuscany, Italy
Full bodied, with delicacy and balance.  60% Sangiovese (from Montalcino no less) delivers lip smacking Tuscan character.  The 20% Cabernet, 20% Merlot and some aging in French barriques, deliver some familiarity for Australian palates.  A sophisticated IGT inspired by Super Tuscans.  Rated one of top 10 best value Tuscans by Nicolas Belfrage.

Camigliano Rosso di Montalcino 2006 - Tuscany, Italy
They say the best Sangiovese comes from Montalcino and this wine clearly delivers on high expectations.  Medium bodied, light tannins support a palate of seductive red fruit and flowers, and a long complex finish. Everything you would expect from the great 2006 vintage. Rated one of TOP 12 Italian Wines under $50 - Gourmet Traveller April/May 2010
