2007 Barolo 'Roggeri'
This is great Barolo from a single great low yield vineyard, Roggeri. It is a generous La Morra wine which opens up to show the famous characters of dried roses, fennel seed and herbs, chocolate, mushroom and raisins – and more! In contrast to the standard 'Barolo' wine, this is aged in French oak producing a modern softer style of Barolo.

>> "A warm red, exuding tar, tobacco, cherry, floral and sun-baked earth aromas and flavors, with a long, spicy finish. This still has the chewy texture courtesy of the tannins, but is developing nicely. Best from 2014 through 2026. 500 cases made. BS."

>> "This is a lovely wine that is packed tight with spicy oak renderings, Nutella chocolate almond paste, red fruit and roasted espresso bean. The wine shows elegant, drying tannins with creamy mocha flavors That last long in the mouth. Drink after 2015."

>> "Marco's wines are always very correct, and this wine is no exception. These wines are truly made in the vineyard (s); they're a joy to drink and share. A blend of three different vineyards, all quite close to one another, this offers up excellent varietal typicity and character; an honest reflection of the land and tradition. Very fresh acidity, steely tannins, and well above-average quality fruit. This too took 30 minutes to open up, but it was worth the wait and is easily in the top quartile of normal tasted this day. Drink through 2023."

>> "The 2007 Barolo is an attractive wine laced with crushed flowers, spices and sweet red berries, all of which come together nicely on a refined mid-weight frame. The vibrant, silky finish is quite pretty. This gentle, approachable Barolo is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. Ciabot Berton is a solid, reliable producer in La Morra. Drink 2012 - 2017. "
