Barbaresco DOCG Nubiola 2011
AVAILABLE IN 750ML BOTTLES
Azienda Agricola Pelissero is a family-run vine-growing estate located in the district of Treiso in the heart of the Barbaresco zone. Many gradual changes have been performed by the successive generations of the Pelissero family, who transformed their business from grape growing and selling begun by Giovanni Pelissero, into winemaking of all their estate-grown grapes.
The first bottles of their own wine date back to 1960 and were produced by Luigi Pelissero, whose work was followed by his son, Oenologist Giorgio who after finishing his studies, decided to work full time at the winery. The Pelissero family takes care of all the winery work, from pruning the vines to marketing the wine.
This features the aromas of oak, coffee, vanilla and dried black cherry. The oak carries over to the palate that delivers espresso, licorice, roasted nut and vanilla but not much fruit richness. It has astringent tannins that give it a mouth drying finish.

>> "The 2011 Barbaresco Nubiola is exceptionally beautiful and expressive. Spices, dark red stone fruits, mint and leather all meld together in a pliant, expressive Barbaresco that will drink well early. Sweet floral notes, anise and rose petal are laced throughout the finish. Ripe, silky tannins provide the backdrop for a gracious, understated Barbaresco. The 2011 brings together the freshness of the 2010 with the fruit density of the 2009, a pretty appealing combination in my book. Drinking window-2015-2026."

>> "Aged in large Slavonian casks and a bit of old barriques, the 2011 Barbarescos were bottled just prior to my visit): Good fresh full red. Purple fruits, spicy oak and strong violet lift on the nose. Concentrated, fresh and oaky, with intense blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors nicely enlivened by integrated acidity. Sappy on the finish. This seems higher in acidity than the 2010 version."
