Wine Selection:
Sons of Eden 'Freya' Riesling 2009 - Eden Valley, SA

Freya was the foremost goddess of ancient Germanic lands where the Riesling grape originated. This single vineyard wine honours early German settlers who cultivated the first Riesling vine in the exemplary micro-climate of South Australia’s Eden Valley.

Wine Description: Displaying hallmark Eden Valley lime and citrus blossom aromas. A crisp, dry and steely styled Riesling finishing with freshness and minerality.  Alcohol 12.5%

Winemaking : Hand harvested, chilled to 6ºC and whole bunch pressed. It was our intention to craft the finest example of an Eden Valley Riesling. The emphasis was on retaining only the purest free-run juice and fermenting it cool to savour the delicate aromas. The ferment was taken to dryness after which the wine was gently fined, filtered and bottled.

Vintage 2009: Yet another excellent vintage!  Coming off an average winter and growing season the Riesling vines were well balanced with average crop levels and good shoot length. From veraison to harvest the weather was ideal for Riesling flavour development with a lengthy period of mild daytime temperatures and classic cool Eden Valley nights.
