2015 Old Vine Gewurztraminer
Stonecroft has always been known for this variety and our Old Vine has a loyal following. With the Old Vine Gewürztraminer we are aiming for a medium sweet style and we look to get at least a small amount of botrytis (noble rot) in the grapes. This wine is the last Gewürztraminer to be made with fruit from our oldest Gewürztraminer vines planted in 1984.

>> "This is a formidable wine showing opulent aromas of mango, lychee, sweet nectarine and potpourri, which lead to a concentrated and powerful palate that delivers gloriously rich texture and expansive mouthfeel, beautifully supported by subtle sweetness and seamless acidity. A glorious rendition. At its best: now to 2024." (Not indicated which Vintage)

>> "Spicy, rich and intense with very exotic white heavily scented with rose and turkish delight suggestions. On the palate - very creamy and richly flavored with the rose and Turkish delight ideas returning, plenty of sweetness and intensity too that will seduce all who try; medium+ acidity, long and rich finish. Fantastic example!" (Not indicated which Vintage)

>> "The Gewürztraminers from this tiny Hawke's Bay winery are among the finest in the country. This 'Old Vine' wine, introduced from the 2004 vintage, is made entirely from grapes hand-picked from the original Mere Road plantings in 1983. Certified organic, the 2015 vintage (5*) is a pale gold, mouthfilling (14.5 per cent alcohol), very rich wine, with lush, ripe, peachy, spicy flavours, gentle acidity, and a smooth, medium-sweet, lasting finish. Drink now or cellar." (Vintage 2015)

>> "The Gewurztraminers from this tiny Hawke's Bay winery are striking and among the finest in the country. This 'Old Vine' wine, introduced from the 2004 vintage, is made entirely from grapes hand-picked from the original Mere Road plantings in 1983. Certified organic, the 2014 vintage (5*) is perfumed, weighty (14.5 per cent alchohol) and rich, with concentrated, beautifully ripe peach, lychee and spice flavours. A medium style, it is oily textured and very harmonious. Already delicious and full of personality, it should be at its best 2016+." (Vintage 2014)
