Grenache / Merlot / Syrah
Is a blend that represents the coming-together of the Rhone Valley (where Grenache and Syrah are the two key red wine grapes) and Bordeaux, where Merlot dominates the vineyards.
It might also be viewed as a slightly softer, richer take on that classic southern Rhone combination Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah (GSM), in which astringent, moody Mourvedre is replaced by the supple, generous Merlot.
