Stonecroft Gimblett Gravels Crofters Syrah 2015 Hawke's Bay, New Zealand In 2013, they purchased a third vineyard at the end of Mere Road. They started the conversion process to organic production straight away and the vineyard is now certified organic. When this wine was made, the vineyard was in conversion. They have a number of different clones of Syrah at this vineyard. This Syrah is a blend of some of the Syrah batches from the vineyard. With this, they are aiming for a wine which is approachable soon after bottling. Varietal: Shiraz Aroma: It is a fruity bouquet with black fruit, pepper and a hint of cinnamon. Palate: This wine has rich, black fruit flavours of black cherry, raspberry and plum together with a touch of nutmeg and cedar. Bottle Closure: Screw cap Suggested Cellaring: 2-3 years Harvest: Hand harvested on 1st April 2015 Vinification: It is fermented in open-top stainless steel fermenters followed by maturation in barrel and tank. Alcohol: 12.5% Reviews: >> "From their Fernhill Vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels district, this youthful charmer is filled with dark plum, blueberry, floral and spice characters with subtle game complexity. The palate shows excellent purity and silky texture, beautifully framed by fine tannins. Lovely elegant expression of the variety showing attractive fruit intensity and refinement. At its best: 2016 to 2022." -4**** Sam Kim- |
