Stonecroft Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Hawke's Bay, New Zealand Like 2013, 2014 was a superb season. It has fruity flavors of gooseberry and citrus. The partial barrel fermentation imparts a smooth mouth feel and gives a softness to the wine. This is balanced by a refreshing touch of acidity. A great alternative style to Marlborough Savvy and a great successor to the outstanding 2013 vintage. It is focused and finely textured on the palate, and offers gentle weight, beautifully framed by bright acidity. Wonderful structure and length. At its best: now to 2019." -4**** Sam Kim (Wine Orbit)- >> "Strongly varietal bouquet with aromas of fresh lemon, apple blossom and mild tropical fruits; a soft oak spice layer adds a layer of texture as well as harmony and mild complexity. Crisp, dry, fruity and mildly savory with flavors of citrus, apple and light tropical fruit; highish acidity and a long finish." -Cameron Douglas (Master Sommelier)- >> "The attractive 2016 vintage (4****) was fermented in a mix of tanks (90 per cent) and barrels (10 per cent). Mouthfilling, it has good concentration of ripe tropical-fruit flavours, with a touch of toasty oak adding complexity and a crisp, dryish (5 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Best drinking mid-2017+." -Michael Cooper for 2016 Vintage- |
